Songfacts®:

  • This swelling ballad finds Li trying to recover from a devastating breakup. She refers to her own heart as a "heart of steel," as it has been hardened by the pain that have accompanied previous endings of relationships. However, Li doesn't want her heart to be so hardened that she will never love again. "Don't leave me stranded, don't leave me alone," she sings. "Don't leave me dying, with out a lover to hold."
  • Longtime collaborator Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John, helped on production. Li's relationship with her fellow strange is really strange. She admitted to The Observer: "We don't get along. He pulls one way and I pull the other. We fight a lot and we meet in the middle and that's what creates a great song. We challenge each other."
