  • As the album cycle for Lykke Li's sophomore album, Wounded Rhymes, winded down, the Swede went through the biggest breakup of her life, which drove her from her native country to Los Angeles. "I moved to LA and decided, 'Okay, I just need to survive,'" she told Billboard magazine. "I made no such plans to make an album. My first instinct was just to try to heal myself and to come back to some sort of life. And then I was so emotionally broken that I just started to write… I love writing, and it was so amazing to get lost in the process. I didn't think that someone would ever hear it."

Eventually, Li decided that she needed closure from the breakup and fashioned her songs into I Never Learn," the title of which, she told The Observer, "just came to me. I want to be lost. And then those words were there – 'I don't know and I never fu---ng learn.'"
  • Lykke Li called the tracks on I Never Learn, "power ballads for the broken." "I want to be my generation's guilty pleasure," she told Rolling Stone. "I want to be the last song that plays at the disco for the outcasts."
