Songfacts®:

  • "Martian Man" is allegorical. Although seemingly about a visitation by a space alien, it is also alludes to being at one with the universe and accepting all. It has a dreamy like, ethereal quality which suits Lynsey's delicate, girlish vocals.

A quite different sounding version of the same song was recorded by Julianne Regan's group Mice, which goes for a more futuristic, synthesizer-dominated sound. The Mice version was released as a track on the "Milkman" CD single in 1996. >>>
