Songfacts®:

  • As Mabel wrote the songs for her second album, she reflected on dance music's generational themes of liberation, expression and inclusion. This song finds her sarcastically wishing "good luck" to all the Romeo boys who think the grass is greener on the other side. In continually looking to upgrade the girl on their arm, they're missing out on the opportunity of real love.

"'Good Luck', said Mabel, "is the empowering song you need when getting ready to go out: when you're feeling low about someone, and your friends will take you out to get that person off your mind."
  • Mabel teamed up with British DJ Jax Jones and Swedish DJ duo Galantis for the dance track. It is said to distill "influences of house, heartbreak, and female solidarity into attitude-heavy pop."
  • Mabel wrote the song with:

English songwriter and producer MNEK, who also helped Mabel pen her previous single, "Let Them Know," and High Expectations track "OK (Anxiety Anthem)."

Frequent Little Mix collaborator Camille Purcell. The songwriter and producer previously helped Mabel pen her hits "Don't Call Me Up," "Mad Love," and "Boyfriend."

Producer and topline writer Tre Jean-Marie (Nathan Dawe's "Lighter," Little Mix's "No Time For Tears").

    American singer-songwriter Pamela "TOMI" Autuori.

    Christian "Bloodshy" Karlsson of Galantis.

Frequent Galantis collaborator Jordi de Fluiter.
  • This is the first time Mabel worked with Galantis. She previously hooked up with Jax Jones for the producer's 2018 single "Ring Ring."
