Songfacts®:

  • This song was released as the sixth single from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' collaborative debut studio album The Heist. It finds the Seattle rapper spitting about riding around in a Cadillac, which is his favorite car. The song's hook is performed by Seattle singer-songwriter Hollis, who has also worked with Blue Scholars and is a member of Canary Sing, while American rapper Schoolboy Q spits the second verse.
  • The music video was directed by Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Jason Koenig and features cameo appearances from several artists including Wiz Khalifa, A$AP Rocky, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Big Boi, DJ Drama and Trinidad James, with the latter taking on the role of a used-car salesman. Q is also seen delivering his verse and reviling with some older women, reciprocating Macklemore's cameo in his video for "Collard Greens."
  • Speaking with Billboard magazine, Hollis recalled her contribution to this song: "When Ben was working on The Heist, I was a sounding board for him on a lot of it," she recalled. "Out of one of our writing sessions came what would become 'White Walls,' and I didn't even know I would be the person performing it, but then I was!"
