Songfacts®:

  • Released two years after the Adina Howard hit with the same title, this song has a similar subject: looking for a partner who is compatibly adventurous. And while Gray's freak is definitely of a sexual nature, she's also looking for someone with an oddball understanding outside of the bedroom as well. "There's nothing better than the day you discover the things that are freakish about you, that's your Jesus, that's your savior," she told Rolling Stone.

After Gray scored a huge hit with "I Try" from her debut album, it became clear that she was not going to follow convention. She earned a reputation for her strange ways, refusing to look at reporters during interviews and often waking up well past noon. It turned out that her personality was as unique as her sound.
