Songfacts®:

  • This song finds Maddie & Tae angling for a kiss. It was written by Tae Dye about her boyfriend, country artist Jackie Lee.

"Jackie wanted our first few dates to be really special, but he was very shy and reserved because he wanted it to be perfect," she recalled to Glamour. "Everything was great, but by a couple dates in, he hadn't kissed me, and I didn't know if he even liked me! I kind of just wanted that confirmation."

"'Right Here, Right Now' was what was going through my head at the time, like, 'Are you going to kiss me right now or wait a little longer?' But don't worry, we have now kissed!"
