Songfacts®:

  • On June 30, 2010, Madina Lake's bass player, Matthew Leone, was critically injured after coming to the rescue of a woman who was being beaten by her husband. Doctors were forced to remove one-third of his skull while waiting for the swelling in his brain to go down and for a time it was touch and go as to whether he would survive. He has since made a good recovery and was later voted Hero of the Year" by readers of Kerrang! magazine because of his efforts. The song's title seems almost prophetic as Matthew recorded his bass part the night before the incident.
  • Frontman Nathan Leone told Rock Sound magazine the story of the song: "Mateo [Camargo, guitar] had this bit he'd written but didn't think would work for Madina. We found it while creeping through his computer and loved it. Ultimately we recorded everything but bass on it cuz Matthew couldn't settle on his part. He and I sang the lead on the chorus for a sort of gang vocal effect and it felt really powerful. It inspired him and he tracked bass that night, the next night was when he got hurt."
