Songfacts®:

  • This song is about a woman who walks out on a man who hurt her, holding her head up high. When asked if this was a revenge song, Madonna told NME: "No, It's about empowering yourself. As much as I like a song like 'Take A Bow,' lyrically it only reflects one side of my personality. I have that side which is completely masochistic and willing to, literally, do anything for love. But there's another side too which is – 'Don't f--k with me, I don't need anybody. I can do what I want' and 'You'll See' reflects that."
  • The video to this song was a follow-up to "Take A Bow." >>>

  • David Foster wrote this with Madonna and produced the track. Foster has worked on popular ballads for many artists, including Whitney Houston, Boz Scaggs and Celine Dion.
  • Susan Boyle covered this on her 2009 debut album, I Dreamed a Dream. The Britain's Got Talent star explained why this song is so inspirational for her: "It's about determination, independence and the ability to show them what you are made of. Doubt sows disbelief. This is about turning this around. This song is a kind of beacon. A way of keeping going. My productive anger. My way of getting rid of the labels which have been unfair."
