Songfacts®:

  • Dallas, Texas native Maggie Lindemann moved to Los Angeles at the age of 15 to pursue her music. This was the first song that she put out after relocating to the City of Angels.
  • Maggie explained the song's meaning to Teen Vogue:

"It's about hurting, and wanting to gain back something or someone that you've lost. We wrote the song with the goal of capturing that feeling, because I've dealt with loss all my life and it's something that's universal.

I knew I wanted my first song to touch on that because it would be the best way for my fans and anyone who hears it to get a window into the parts of my life that are more personal."
  • Asked if the song was inspired by anyone in particular, Maggie replied: "It's about a failed friendship, or a failed relationship. It's about losing someone or something that you cannot have back."
