Songfacts®:

  • Dallas, Texas native Maggie Lindemann first posted recordings of her singing on the social media app Keek, and quickly gained a following on the app. She relocated to Los Angeles at the age of 15 to continue pursuing music and amassed a huge following via her YouTube channel thanks in large part to her independently released song "Knocking On Your Heart " and her covers of Rihanna's "Love on the Brain" and Kehlani's "Letter." This is her first single since signing to 300 Entertainment.
  • Co-written by Maggie with Sasha Sloan and Sean Myer, the song is a declaration about what it's like to be a young woman today, when appearances seem to be all that matters.

"It's about getting judged based on your looks and what's said on social media," she said of the song. "People will think they know you just from that. There's more to someone than physical appearance. The song basically says, 'Screw that!' Being a young woman, I feel like we're very judged based on our looks alone. This is a song for everyone who feels that way."
  • The bright fingersnap-driven production is courtesy of Jayson DeZuzio whose other cuts include X Ambassadors' "Low Life" as well as songs by Jamie N Commons and Skylar Grey.

  • A Confused And Cocky And Weird Egg from The Mini Room This song is very relatable. To people who wants you to fit in, you can stand up and be different. This song gives me this vibes, and I gotta say it’s accurate. Everyone sees me being quiet and a girly person and I don’t like it. Hey, though It’s bad to use swear words, you have to get me that’s the only way to bring out my harsh feelings. That’s what I say now. So,Maggie Lindemann I have to thank you for helping me to stand up to thousands of toxic people.
  • A Comfused Pan Nugget from Hiding In The BasementI love this song because I am the exact opposite of a girly-girl. This song reminds me that its alright to be a tomboy, and that's something I need because my school is full of prissy, cis, girly, bitchy girls who ridicule me for dressing 'masculine.' Not only that I relate to the lyrics because I can outdrink boys, I do swear and I am happy being different! Thanks Maggie Lindemann for making a song that girls can relate too!
  • Divagirl17 from Oakley, californiaI love this song because i look different from my friends because I don’t wear stuff that makes me look girly cause I’m not. One day some dude let’s call him Steve came up to me and said oh boys look I found a wannabe boy and I almost punched Steve but instead I told him that he shouldn’t judge me by what I look like otherwise I would judge him as a girl cause he had long hair and I wear my hair in hairstyles that make it look short
  • Angel Clark from Seymour, MissouriThis song Pretty Girl is just like me. I feel like no one takes me seriously at all. I get how people only see what they just want to see, but I'm so much more than that.
