Songfacts®:

  • Written by lead guitarist Tony Clarkin, the studio version of "Pray For The Day" runs to 3 minutes 45 seconds and is Track 7 on the 1988 Wings Of Heaven album. Earlier that year when the band played Hammersmith Odeon, the song they performed before it was "Need A Lot Of Love," which contains the line "Someone built a wall in Berlin." When he introduced "Pray For The Day," lead vocalist Bob Catley alluded to this, adding, "The fact that it's still standing there today, is the reason for this next song." Some would call that prophetic, because in November of the following year, the Berlin Wall came down. >>>
