Songfacts®:

  • The title track of Mandisa's Overcomer album was written by Christopher Stevens, David Garcia and Ben Glover in the fall of 2010.

2010 and 2012 BMI Christian Songwriter of the Year, Christopher Stevens has worked with CCM artists TobyMac and Sanctus Real as well as country singers Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood. He has collaborated with David Garcia and Ben Glover on several projects including Christian Hip Hop-R&B-Pop rock duo Group 1 Crew's Fearless album.
  • This was used as the title song for the Good Morning America series Overcomers, in which host Robin Roberts asked viewers to share their personal stories to the world.
  • The single proved to be a big hit for Mandisa. It became the 20th tune to top Billboard's Christian Songs chart for at least 10 weeks. It was also the first by a woman to log a reign of double-digit weeks; of the prior 19 such hits, ten were by solo men and nine by male groups or trios.
