  • This midlife crisis number finds the Manics pondering failure but refusing to be defeated. The song is a collaboration with Scritti Politti's Green Garside, whose sweet vocals act as a contrast with James Dean Bradfield's more raw voice. Bassist Nicky Wire told Q magazine he was an obvious choice for the tune: "Green was inspirational in so many ways," he said.
  • The song title is taken from a early 1940s self-portrait by the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch.
