Songfacts®:

  • This song of regret finds Maren Morris looking back a relationship hoping the ex remembers the love they once shared. She penned the tune after a random encounter with the mother of her former boyfriend at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. Morris recalled:

"It was just a random Wednesday morning, the week after we ended things... I saw his mom at the top of this, like, hill, and I thought she was a mirage or something. I went to write later that day, and I didn't have any ideas, so I was like, 's--t, I think I just need to write about what happened today and have sort of a moment, because it was just the craziest thing.'"
  • Morris performed this song with Alicia Keys at the Grammy Awards in 2017. Earlier in the ceremony, she took the award for Country Solo Performance for her song "My Church."
