Songfacts®:

  • This sexy jam finds Maren Morris offering up an invitation to a steamy two-person party. The singer wed fellow country singer Ryan Hurd in March 2018; she told Billboard being happily married has opened up new avenues for her songwriting.

"It's definitely the most confident I've ever been with my body, my sexuality and my prowess, and that was fun to tap into," Morris said. "If you do it in the right way and it's almost silly, it's believable. That's my favorite part about those '90s R&B jams, they're so good they're almost a joke. So we tapped into that."

Morris and Hurd divorced in 2024, and Morris came out as bisexual soon after.
  • RSVP is a process for a response to an invitation, which is derived from the French phrase Répondez s'il vous plaît, meaning "please respond." Morris penned the song with Natalie Hemby, Jon Randall and Mark Trussell and when the songwriters realized they didn't know what RSVP actually means they looked it up, then worked the phrase into the bridge – "it's me speaking really American French," the singer said with a laugh.
