Songfacts®:

  • This strings-and-piano ballad is the closing track of Caution. Written by Carey and produced by Daniel Moore, who also plays the piano, it is an intimate confessional about emotion suppression.

Yet I know that tomorrow comes, so I'll be here when you rise
Stay real close and the moment will subside
Look the other way as I bottle myself up inside
I won't let the teardrops spill tonight
    Just conceal myself and hide
    A portrait of my life

Speaking on Good Morning America, Carey highlighted this as the Caution track as the one she's "most proud of." "It's a process of me healing myself and helping other people hopefully as well," she said.
  • As Carey's fans eagerly awaiting the release of Caution, her first studio album in four years, they also launched a #JusticeForGlitter campaign to revive the 2001 soundtrack to her maligned film Glitter. The day after Caution's November 14, 2018 debut, Glitter hit #1 on the iTunes chart in the US and several other countries.
