  • Some fans have queried if this sassy break-up anthem reflects problems in Carey's marriage to Nick Cannon. However, she told MTV News that the autobiographical elements of Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel extend back to the earliest years of her life. She explained: "I'm always writing things down. I've been doing that since I was 6 years old. [In Memoirs], I'm kind of looking at my life and going, 'That was a stupid thing to do. Let me write about it.' I remember this, 'Oh, I wrote about this, let me finish the song.'"
  • Carey described her 12th studio album as "R&B hip-hop with a lot of slow jams," so it makes sense that Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel made its best impression on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, where it peaked at #1. On the genre-spanning Billboard 200, it peaked at #3.
