Songfacts®:

  • Running to 3 minutes 32 seconds, this arpeggiated folkish Australian song performed by Marian Henderson was co-written by Jimmy Stewart and Doug Ashdown. It was released as a single backed by "Lady Of Carlisle."

In April 2014, veteran BBC presenter Desmond Carrington introduced it on his weekly program with a personal anecdote.

It was he said an exact picture of an old-fashioned antique shop in Maidstone he used to visit in the 1950s. Run by a Mrs. Turk, it was crammed from basement to roof with what she called her "little treasures." He discovered the LP in the 1980s, and couldn't believe his ears because of the similarity of this song with Mrs. Turk's shop, right down to the three flights of stairs. >>>
