Songfacts®:

  • This song started some controversy, as the band My Chemical Romance thought the song was aimed at them. Manson says this is not the case, that it was aimed at people doing a simpler version of what he has accomplished. >>>

  • There was also some speculation that Manson wrote this song about his ex wife, Dita Von Teese. Manson replied that he wouldn't waste his time writing a song for a woman who broke his heart and left him suicidal. >>>

  • Mikaila from Deltona, FlACTUALLY...MCR's "Welcome to the Black Parade" was an emulatoin of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Band, which came before Marilyn Manson...lyrically they can be similar but there are things that separate them...Marilyn Manson is more "shock" and MCR is more "emo"
  • Lin Lin from Pinson, AlI dont think this song is about MCR. -though im not a huge fan- i watched an interveiw with manson himself saying it wasnt(though he did say he's not a big fan of them) and he's not afraid to make enemies so im sure it isnt. i just think its about every little goth kid out there who thinks they are being cool and original by emulating him. basically he's saying its flattering- but get a life and be yourself. your just going to hurtyourself by doing this.
  • Matt from Suicideika, Pawell... u gotta admit... my chemical romance does seem to attempt to emulate MM. for instance, look at the similarities in the videos for coma white and welcome to the black parade. and between the lyrics to the songs fundamentally loathesome and early sunsets over monroeville.
