Songfacts®:

  • Marina told The Sun that when she started writing Electra Heart she was depressed, so her early songs, including this synth-pop paean to regret, are dark. She explained: "That's why I'm talking about death in that song. I was in a dark place."
  • Marina explained the song's meaning to Amazon as: "The feeling that you have not lived your life to the full."
  • The song was not included on the US version of Electra Heart. It was replaced by "How To Be A Heartbreaker," a track Marina wrote after completing the album.
