Songfacts®:

  • Electra Heart is a concept album centered around the titular character. Marina told The Sun that Electra Heart has four personalities, one of which is "Teen Idle" (a young girl going nowhere). They are, she says, "magnifications of certain parts of me and of every woman."
  • The song finds Marina looking back at her teenage years when she often felt suicidal and regretting not living them to the fullest. Marina explained to Amazon that this song is the "Story of my suicidal cheerleader youth! This song was like my last hurrah of adolescence."
