Songfacts®:

  • My heart keeps pulling in the wrong direction
I'm about to cross the line
    Looking for the wrong affection
    Night after night

Simultaneously yearning and euphoric, "Late Night Feelings" finds guest vocalist Lykke Li being kept awake by her fantasies about a man.
  • Mark Ronson wrote the song with Lykke Li plus:

Californian singer-songwriter Ilsey Juber who also co-penned Late Night Feelings lead single "Nothing Breaks Like A Heart."

Canadian songwriter Stephen "Koz" Kozmeniu, whose other credits include Madonna's MDNA song "Gang Bang" and Kendrick Lamar's Pimp The Butterfly track "The Blacker the Berry."
  • The song was produced by Ronson and co-produced by the Picard Brothers at Zelig Studios in LA.
  • Speaking on the NovaFM'S Smallzy's Surgery, Mark Ronson explained how after "trying a lot of stuff out in the studio" this song became the title track he was looking for to spearhead his fifth studio album.

"I had a few ideas but nothing seemed to be very good or was exciting enough, and then I wrote this song Late Night Feelings with Lykke Li, and I knew this was going to be a bit of a DJ heartbreak record but Lykke came up with the lyrics for Late Night Feelings and I like how it sounded quite modern and almost hip hop, and it could be about anything that keeps you up at night, it could be lust, it could be love, heartbreak – and in that last five minutes before you sleep your brain goes through this like slightly funny feeling where you have like fantasy stuff – I love the idea of calling the album Late Night Feelings – I thought it summed everything up."
