Songfacts®:

  • Marmaduke Duke are a side project of Biffy Clyro's Simon Neil (The Atmosphere) and Sucioperro's JP Reid (The Dragon). Duke Pandemonium is the second of a planned trilogy of concept albums about a mad 16th century nobleman to be released by the pair. To coincide with its release, this was released as a single and it became the duo's first ever chart single. (Neil's other band, Biffy Clyro, are regular visitors to the UK Top 40).
  • This song lasts a mere 1 minute 58 seconds.
  • The piano riff is sampled from a Billy Joel album track "Sleeping With The Television On" from the New Yorker's 1980 album Glass Houses.
  • Reid explained the duo's name to Clickmusic: "The name we wanted to sound Victorian, regal and olde worlde and we loved the rhythm of it."
