Songfacts®:

  • This minimal and delicate future bass cut features Bebe Rexha on vocals. The American-Albanian singer-songwriter was also the featured singer on Cash Cash's "Take Me Home," G-Eazy's "Me, Myself & I" and David Guetta's "Hey Mama."
  • Garrix and Rexha used FaceTime when she was recording her vocals. "Bebe and I had a lot of contact on FaceTime," Garrix told Fuse. "I wasn't there when she recorded it, so she FaceTime'd me I think every 15 minutes to say how excited she was about the song."
  • Martin Garrix debuted the song in March 2016 at the Ultra Music Festival and released it officially on July 29, 2016.
  • Garrix made his US television debut on the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on August 22, 2016, playing the song alongside Bebe Rexha and The Roots as accompaniment.
  • Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha wrote the song together. Garrix told Billboard magazine: "It all went organically. I just love Bebe's voice and she's a great songwriter too. So when we got the chance to sit down in the studio in LA, we both went all in and were able to share our creativity."
  • Irish singer-songwriter Ruth-Anne Cunningham (JoJo's "Too Little, Too Late", Britney Spears' "Work Bitch") originally co-penned "In the Name of Love" before it was transformed into a future bass song. She recalled to OfficialCharts.com:

"I wrote it not knowing that Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha were going to take it and put that futuristic sound on it. We wrote it on the piano, but it shows there's a way to fuse a 'real' song with pop hooks."
