Songfacts®:

  • Mason Reed is an Americana singer/songwriter from Tucson, Arizona who says of his songs, "Some of them are true; most of them are exaggerated truths." Regarding "Six Shallow Women," he told us: "This is about drinking too much, loving too much, and holding hands with the devil. And coming to terms with the regrets that haunt us."
  • Regarding his songwriting process, Reed explained: "I sit in a room and play guitar or piano and look for something new, sometimes inspiration hits. It's usually a guitar or piano part that hooks me first. Once I have a start or middle part or end of a song written it can take 10 minutes or 10 years to finish. Depends on the song. Other times I'll just start singing out of the blue and record it onto my voicemail to work on later."
