Songfacts®:

  • This was the first song that Mat Kearney wrote with his wife, Annie Sims Kearney. He told New Release Tuesday: "I was sitting there and I was like, 'What about this?' and she's like, 'Nah, that's no good.' I was like, 'Really?' She's like, 'No, I don't like that lyric.' So I asked, 'What would you say?' And what she told me was way better, so I wrote that down."

"By the end she had the pad of paper and was writing lyrics, and they were better than the ones I was coming up with," Kearney continued. "It was a fun thing to do together. We'd never done it. She still claims she didn't write it with me, but she's being humble."
  • The song paints a vivid picture of true love. "It's really about the idiosyncrasies of the person you love," said Kearney. "You can either be annoyed by them or celebrate the things that make the person you're with unique."
