Songfacts®:

  • This song is about finding God, with the forest representing the block between man and God. It first appeared on the 2004 independent release Shake Off the Dust... Arise, and was included a year later on Matisyahu's 2005 album Live At Stubb's. Many of Matisyahu's early songs were focused on his spirituality and influenced by his time spent in a Brooklyn Yeshiva - he went from following Phish to dedicating himself to the study of Judaism. A lot of what he learned in these studies found their way into his lyrics.
