Songfacts®:

  • American actor and singer Matthew Morrison is best known for playing Spanish teacher Will Schuester, who takes on the task of restoring the school's glee club to its former glory in the television series Glee. Co-written by Morrison, Claude Kelly and the Norwegian duo Espionage, this feel-good finger-snapping song is the actor's first single from his debut album. The song premiered on Ryan Seacrest's website on February 28, 2011.
  • Morrison admitted in an interview with PopEater that the song is quite a leap from his Glee character: "It's kind of a jump. It's talking about having sex on a roof," he said. "It was the first song I wrote for this album, and it was a story that I really wanted to tell. For me, it's about being young and in love in New York City and kind of appreciating a moment, a memory burn that's been in my head. It's kind of beautiful to put it out there in a song."
  • Morrison told PopEater the song is a true story. He explained: "I was living in New York in my early 20s and my girlfriend at the time and I were up on my apartment roof on 51st and 9th Ave. It was a beautiful summer day and it just all of a sudden started raining. We ran to go inside and we didn't quite make it inside. The moment just kind of took us and if my 16-year-old self knew I was going to have a moment like that in my life, he would be so stoked [laughs]. A lot of people are saying 'Matt Morrison likes to have sex in public,' or whatever but for me, it was a beautiful moment about being in love in New York City."
