Songfacts®:

  • Matthew West opens his fifth studio album with the title track, which he penned with producer Peter Kipley. The album is a follow up to The Story Of Your Life, where West asked fans for their stories to seek inspiration for his songs. He received thousands of responses, so he decided on Into The Light to continue giving a voice to listeners dealing with drug addiction, the rejection of apathy, domestic violence, and even a mother who forgave then befriended a drunk driver who killed her daughter.
  • West explained to CCM Magazine's Matt Conner that he titled the album Into The Light, as: "Once again, we are bringing more true stories into the light in the form of a song on this record. Honestly, I can't remember doing anything that's felt more fulfilling than this journey that I have been on.'"
