Songfacts®:

  • This is the first solo single released by Corinth, Mississippi reared singer Maty Noyes, following collaborations with The Weeknd ("Angel") and Kygo ("Stay"). She told Genius:

"'In My Mind' is about when you really love someone and you know that their pros are much better than their cons, but they still drive you crazy. So instead of saying goodbye to the relationship, you tune them out and just go somewhere more peaceful in your mind."
  • The song is about the same guy who inspired Noyes to write the lyrics for Kygo's "Stay." "It's about a specific relationship," she said. "All of the relationships that don't work out end because you had to end them, but this is a specific one that I stayed in despite everything else - I'm still in the same relationship."
