Songfacts®:

  • This was the love theme from the 1978 film Superman, which was McGovern's last movie theme to chart. McGovern made a name for herself recording movie theme songs. In 1973, she sang "The Morning After" from The Poseidon Adventure; in 1974 she sang "We May Never Love This Way Again" from The Towering Inferno. Both of those won Oscars for Best Song From A Movie. >>>

  • V Field from Qld, AustraliaWait a sec - Margot Kidder's reading of the lyric over the tune was incredibly beautiful and romantic - I thought it was one of the best moments in the movie. Just playing the vocal in the background wouldn't have been nearly as good. (Still miss the wonderful Ms Kidder)
  • Dantrim from Idaho FallsIsn't it,
"Holding hands with a god, I'm a fool"
    makes more sense
  • Esskayess from Dallas, TxIf only they had used the actual song in the movie instead of having just Margot Kidder reading the lyrics during the flight scene. Sounded so incredibly stupid and almost ruined the scene.
  • Rodney from Mountain Home, ArIt should be mentioned the great soundtrack composer John Williams created this beautiful music which he cleverly wove into the Superman main theme. Andy Williams also had success with a recording of this title.
