Wherever Love Takes Me

Album: Gold - Original Soundtrack (1974)

Songfacts®:

  • Maureen McGovern sang this love theme song for the 1974 disaster movie Gold, which was based on a novel by Best Selling UK Author Wilbur Smith called Gold Mine. Elmer Bernstein composed the soundtrack for the film, which was one of Roger Moore's best non-Bond roles during his contract years as 007. The film also featured Susannah York, Ray Milland, John Gielgud and Bradford Dillman, and the production crew employed many of the same people from the British made James Bond films.
McGovern's performance was bang-on target with the quality of the other disaster Love Themes she sang in The Poseidon Adventure ("The Morning After") and The Towering Inferno ("We May Never Love Like This Again"). However, "Wherever Love Takes Me" has not been re-recorded since the original soundtrack album was released in 1974. >>>
