Songfacts®:

  • "Tulips From Amsterdam" was the alternative A-side of "You Need Hands," and was a massive hit for Max Bygraves. In his autobiography, Max gives the impression he wrote it, but the sheet music credits the music to Ralf Arnie and the words to Gene Martyn. Max himself says "It could have been a novelty song, but in fact it was covered by many recording artistes from all over the world." In Holland it almost became the national anthem. >>>
