  • The song title is the French word for "suburb." Vocalist Paul Smith explained to NME: "'Banlieuse' touches us on the pervading sense that all is not well. I find people from all across the social spectrum - whether it's the upper classes, the middle classes or the lower classes - are disaffected right now. It's like they're not in tune with society, they don't care, they don't belong. It's almost a nihilistic point of view."
