Songfacts®:

  • This dance-pop stomper is the first single from English boy band McFly's fifth studio album, Above the Noise. The song premiered on UK radio on July 14, 2010 and was released via download on September 5, 2010 and physically the following day.
  • McFly wrote the song in Atlanta with American producer Dallas Austin. Bass guitarist Dougie Poynter said: "It's about those chicks that go out dressed to kill then moan about guys hitting on them!"
  • The music video for Party Girl premiered on MSN on the 19th of August, 2010. It contains clips from McFly's 30 minute long vampire-mini film Nowhere Left To Run. The promo had to be remade after it received a TV broadcasting ban because of explicit scenes featuring flesh-eating vampires and a partially nude band member Harry Judd.
  • Vocalist Tom Fletcher told Teen Today that Austin, who is responsible for big hits by TLC, Gwen Stefani and Mariah Carey, was used to artists just expecting him to pen the songs, and he didn't expect the McFly boys to come up with their own ideas. "It was about what he could bring to what we had already and how we could combine our sounds and influences to come up with something that's new," said Fletcher.
  • Austin had the inspiration for this song during a night out with the McFly boys. He came up with an idea on the dancefloor, and he promptly recorded it into someone's phone. The next day he used that recording in the studio.
