  • May 6, 1987
  • He was born Robert Rihmeek Williams in an area of South Philadelphia where gun crime and poverty were rife. Young Robert's father was shot and killed when he was five years old, after which his grandmother and uncle, Grandmaster Nell, took him under their care.
  • During his early teenage years, Williams often took part in rap battles, under the pseudonym Meek Millz. Later, he formed a rap quartet. "I was in a group, BloodHoundz, me and my little homies from around the way. But we all started getting locked up and everyone started going their different ways," he said of the group.
  • His big break came when Rick Ross, passing through Philadelphia in 2010, asked his Twitter followers what local rapper he should work with while in town. Meek Mill was the overwhelming response. Ross jumped on the remix of the Philly rapper's "Rosé Red" and the following February announced the signing of Mill to his Maybach Music Group (MMG).
  • Meek spent time behind bars in 2008 after being convicted of gun and drug charges. He was released the following year, but returned to prison in 2014 after violating his five-year probation by performing shows out of state without permission. Mill spent five months in jail with the majority of it spent in solitary confinement.

'Imagine being locked in your bathroom 23 hours a day," he told Billboard magazine. "That's the closest I ever came to losing my mind. You're talking to yourself, playing games with the birds in the window. It's hell."
  • Following his release from prison sentence on December 2, 2014, Mill began dating rapper and singer Nicki Minaj. Their relationship continued for a couple of years and inspired several songs including the hit single "All Eyes on You."
  • He released a gaming app, Bike Life, which riffs on his love for racing dirt bikes.
