Songfacts®:

  • This song was originally penned by frontman Dave Mustaine and guitarist Marty Friedman in the early 1990s. A demo was made, but it never made it onto a record until it was included as a bonus track on the 2004 remixed and remastered Youthanasia record. In 2011, Mustaine and producer Johnny K took the few minutes of the tune that were on tape, developed it and made it into a full-length song, which was included on their TH1RT3EN album. Bass player Dave Ellefson commented to MusicRadar.com: "I'm glad they took the time with it, because it always had the startings of greatness, but it was never nurtured properly. Now it's lived up to its promise. A lot of our stuff has to sit for a while. A great idea is a great idea, and if you come back to it, there's gotta be a reason. I'm glad this song's time has finally come."
  • According to the Youthanasia re-release liner notes, Mustaine came up with the lyrics after watching the movie, Highlander.
