• February 15, 1995
• Born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete in San Antonio, Texas, she immediately moved to the Houston suburbs with her mom after her birth. Megan's father spent the first eight years of her life in prison and died when she was 15.
• Her mother, Holly Aleece Thomas, had her own rap career and was known around Houston as Holly-Wood. She would bring Megan with her to recording sessions instead of putting her daughter in daycare. Sadly, she passed away in March 2019 after battling a cancerous brain tumor.
• Megan started rapping when she was seven years old using a Barbie toy that played prerecorded instrumentals and beats. "I don't know who at [Mattel] thought of that," she recalled to GQ, "but it was fire!"
• Megan Pete used to get compliments from men for her 5' 10" stature and thick body frame. She got the nickname "Thee Stallion" in high school, "stallion" being a Southern slang term applied to big, attractive women.
• She began writing her own raps at age 16 and built a fan base by releasing her tracks on SoundCloud. When Megan told her mom she wanted to pursue rapping as a career, Thomas told her to get a college degree first. She chose to study health administration at Texas Southern, inspired by watching her grandmother take care of her great-grandmother.
• Megan's rapping career heated up once she started at college. In 2016, she went viral after a cypher of her freestyling over Drake's "4pm in Calabasas" hit social media. The following year, the Houston indie 1501 Certified released her professional solo debut mixtape, Make It Hot. Her fierce bars led to 300 Entertainment making her their first female rapper signee in November 2018.
• On July 15, 2020, Megan sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her foot and had emergency surgery to remove the bullets. She claimed her fellow rapper Tory Lanez was the shooter and used the opening track of her debut album to address the incident.
• Megan Thee Stallion has long been calling herself a "Hot Girl," and she refers to her fans as "hotties." Her mission is to inspire her fans love their bodies and aspire to be as powerful, sexy and confident as she is.
• After taking time off from Texas Southern University to pursue her rap career, Megan Thee Stallion started up her course again part time. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in health administration on December 11, 2021 at the school's commencement ceremony along with 842 other students. Megan's mother Holly Thomas, who died in 2019 of brain cancer, inspired the rapper's dream of becoming a health administrator.
• Megan hosted the MTV Video Music Awards in 2024, the 40th anniversary of the show. She paid tribute to some iconic performances in the show's history, at one point holding a snake to celebrate the time when Britney Spears danced with a python in 2001. Megan was quick to get rid of the reptile, calling the crew to remove it. "I don't know that snake, it don't know me," she said.
• Megan has become a leading expert on twerking. When she hosted a twerk-off on the show Love Island in 2025, she offered this commentary: "Twerking is a really dangerous sport. Draggin' a wagon around all day is not easy."
