Songfacts®:

  • Meghan Trainor tied the knot with actor Daryl Sabara on December 22, 2018. This ukulele-driven tune was the song that she walked down the aisle to at their wedding.
  • "Marry Me" finds Trainor expressing her desire to make things official with Sabara. The "All About That Bass" hitmaker actually wrote the tune just one month after they'd started dating. Trainor explained to Billboard that she went on tour just after meeting the actor so she invited him to join her on the road. Their relationship developed very fast and on the one-month anniversary of their first date, he said, "I can see a future with you." Trainor laughed back: "You wanna marry me!" [Laughs]

Trainor then sat down with her ukulele in their hotel room and wrote "Marry Me" right in front of Sabara.
  • The song's music video features footage from Trainor and Sabara's wedding ceremony.
