  • Between 2015-2017 Meghan Trainor underwent a couple of serious operations on her vocal chords and after each one the singer had to go three months without talking. In addition to the two surgeries, Trainor faced struggles with anxiety and panic attacks. She explained to Fresh 102.7's Karen Carson how the tough times helped inspire the music she wrote for her Treat Yourself album, including this empowering message of self-care and self-love.

"The songs that came after this, I was like, 'ha ha!' I did one song called 'Treat Myself' and it was about how, finally, when my therapist looked at me and was like, 'Look at you! You're not shaking anymore and you're not miserable and sad! You're like, really happy and everything is going great for you - don't forget to treat yourself and do something for you. Go get a spa day or do something…' I bought a car and was like, 'treat myself!'"
  • The Treat Myself album was originally scheduled to arrive in 2018, but was pushed back because Meghan Trainor couldn't stop writing tunes. Eventually, the title track was pushed out of the way, leaving it as just a bonus number on the special deluxe edition. "I wrote too many songs, and may the best song win," Trainor told Radio.com.
