  • In this title track from her fifth studio album, Etheridge claims to know about another person's inner desires and sexual indiscretions because she's been there, too: "I know what you're thinking, baby. I used to be just like you."
  • The album and song title was inspired by an online conversation between two of the singer's fans. "One person was saying to the other, 'Melissa Etheridge has really gotten famous and popular and successful now… she's no longer our little secret,'" Etheridge explained to interviewer Jim Nelson in 1995. "So I thought, 'You know what? I'm gonna put an album out called Your Little Secret,' because no, I'm not anymore."
  • David Hogan directed the music video, which features Etheridge rocking out with her band against a white background while male and female models sensually scale a wall of human bodies. Hogan, who also directed the clips for "I'm the Only One" and "I Want to Be In Love," was listening to the song on repeat when the image came to him. He explained in a Songfacts interview: "It just kind of popped into my head. 'Little secrets, I've got a whole wall of little secrets.'"
  • In the video, one of the male models wears a T-shirt that reads "Brad Pitt Rules." At the time, Etheridge was close friends with Pitt, who was married to her pal Jennifer Aniston.
