Songfacts®:

  • This song was inspired by the country music outlaw Waylon Jennings, a good friend of James Hetfield.

According to a story he told Hetfield, Waylon was on vacation in Jamaica, sitting in a bar when one of the locals just kept staring at him. This started to make Waylon very angry, but later he found out the Jamaican was high and had no idea he was staring, meaning Waylon was angry for no reason. He was wasting his hate on the Jamaican. >>>

  • Sir Pyschoflexy from UkOne of the deeper of metallicas cuts. This era gets a lot of negatively but I think it's aged perfectly. Solid riff as per usual. Great song. Hi
  • Zander from Los AngelesRecently they play the main riff to this song after playing "Seek and Destroy" live, which is usually the last song of the set.
