Songfacts®:

  • This song addresses M.I.A's run-in with the NFL, when during her 2012 performance at the Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show with Madonna the Sri Lankan MC drew indignation by showing a middle finger to the camera. The NFL sued her for $16.6 million before both parties reached a settlement two years later.
  • The song opens with a sample of a phone call from M.I.A.'s lawyer where he explains the lawsuit: "They're suing you for damaging their fantastic reputation by flipping the bird," he says.
  • This is an extension of M.I.A.'s 76-second "Boom Skit," which first appeared on her 2013 album Matangi.
