Songfacts®:

  • Also written without the ampersand ("Naked Ladies And Electric Ragtime"), reviewer Steven Wilcock said of this track in Triste magazine:

"I know my fair share of fingerpicking but still have trouble believing that 'Naked Ladies & Electric Ragtime' is actually performed on one guitar by one person. In any case, it's a piece that should be standard fare in guitar workshops the world over."

His words were prophetic, because the second track on Michael Chapman's breakthrough second album has become exactly that. YouTube in particular contains a fair smattering of guitarists - aspiring and experienced - giving their own renditions of it.

Fully Qualified Survivor was released in 1970, and has stood the test of time, none more so than this charming yet deceptively simple acoustic guitar solo. >>
