Songfacts®:

  • In the verses of "Give In To Me," Michael Jackson complains about getting kicked around by a girl with a heart of stone. She seems to enjoy hurting him, and even laughs at him with her friends. The chorus seems to tell another story though, with Jackson lusting after her:

    Love is a feeling
    Quench my desire
Give it when I want it
    Takin' me higher

Part of his Dangerous album, the song was released as a single in Europe, Australia and New Zealand but not in North America or Asia. It topped the New Zealand singles charts for four weeks and went to #2 in the UK.
  • The song features guitarist Slash of Guns N' Roses. Slash also contributed guitar to the video version of "Black Or White." He told Spinner, "When Macaulay Culkin was trashing around, that's me playing."
  • This was written, arranged and composed by Michael Jackson and produced by Jackson and Bill Bottrell. R&B and hip-hop producer Teddy Riley worked on many of the tracks on Dangerous. He commented to Musicradar.com: "Bill Bottrell put in some great production on this track. Because he had his hand in there it ended up sounding perfect. He had the magic touch and had everything leveled up nicely. He's been doing it for so long. He's the best with microphones, and knowing where to sit the instruments on the track. He's really good. I also like Bruce Swedien who mixed some tracks on this album. I'd never worked with Brucey before that. But I always ask for him as an engineer after working with him on this."
  • The rock band Three Days Grace covered this song in 2012.
  • Andrew Morahan shot the video, on June 25, 1992 in Munich, Germany, just two days before the opening concert of the Dangerous World Tour. The clip features Jackson performing the song on stage at an indoor rock concert backed by a band put together by Slash at the King of Pop's request. The other musicians are Slash's fellow Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, touring keyboardist Teddy "Zig Zag" Andreadis, Living Colour bassist Muzz Skillings, and legendary session drummer Tony Thompson.

  • Delano from HartfordI read something MJ said in his book about The Album Dangerous, its not about being in a relationship. MJ wants a relationship and is telling that from his perspective of wanting love

  • Emma from Christchurch, New ZealandHow people can think he was homosexual, asexual or a pedophile after listening to this song is beyond me. It is quite simply the sexiest song ever written and MJ wouldn't have to ask me twice ;)
  • Shauna from Atlatna, GaThis is one of MJ's sexiest songs.
