  • This upbeat declaration of love is the first single from Los Angeles R&B singer-songwriter Miguel's second album Kaleidoscope Dream. It was originally released as part of his Art Dealer Chic: Vol 1 mixtape.
  • Jason Beattie directed the song's music video, which was shot in Los Angeles. It was inspired by the freedom of dreams. "I believe dreams represent the purest form of fantasy we unleash through our subconscious," Miguel told Singers Room. "They represent the truest freedom we can experience. Totally un-repressed and totally creative."
  • Miguel performed this song with Wiz Khalifa at the Grammy Awards in 2013. The performance earned plaudits from Kelly Clarkson, who when accepting her award for Best Pop Vocal Album, said it was "sexy" and requested a collaboration with Miguel.
  • Speaking to The Daily Telegraph about the song title, Miguel said: "It is one of those powerful words that is barely used. But this idea of bestowing your love upon someone, kind of laying it on them, I don't know, I just kind of like that."
  • The song set a new milestone of 23 weeks at #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop radio airplay chart. Miguel's record was usurped by Chris Brown and Drake's "No Guidance," when it logged its 24th week atop the tally dated February 1, 2020.
  • Miguel performed a selection of hits on the April 18, 2013 episode of Saturday Night Live, with guitar-scorching versions of both this song and "How Many Drinks?"
  • The inspiration for the song was Miguel's girlfriend, the model and artist Nazanin Mandi. He explained to People magazine: "I had been on a long trip and was anxious to see her. That's where the song began, with that emotion while I was on the plane. I don't remember how I got from 'These lips can't wait to taste your skin' to the end of the song, but when I listened to it, I thought, 'This is special.'"
  • English singer-songwriter Jessie Ware jumped on a remix. Miguel told MTV News UK: "‪I'm a huge fan of Jessie's, I just think that it's really cool to be able to work with like-minded artists, artists where you get a sense on integrity and a sense of purpose and a deliberate direction.‬"‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

"I just think she's one of those artists that it's very obvious that she has clear ideas as to what she wants to communicate," he continued, "and to represent as a musician and it's an honor to have her on the song."
  • Performing this at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, Miguel miscalculated a stage jump and landed on two fans. One of the women claimed the show was at fault for not providing adequate medical attention after the incident, leading producers to turn the blame on Miguel, saying they told him he wasn't allowed to attempt the feat. His representatives deny the claim.
  • Miguel pulled this one out of the ether. "I don't remember writing the song. I remember starting it, the music, the time, the circumstances. But it's just one of those songs that wrote itself. There was no conscious thought. It just came out. My favorite songs I've written are like that. I don't know where that s--t came from," he told Entertainment Weekly.
