Songfacts®:

  • This is the second single by Michigan singer-songwriter, Mike Posner from his debut album, titled 31 Minutes to Takeoff. The song was co-written by Mike Posner when he was still a Duke University student with Benny Blanco and produced by Blanco.
  • Posner told Dose.ca that Blanco, who's worked on Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" and Kesha's "TiK ToK," wound up giving the then university student a masters class in pop. Posner explained that he learned from the star producer, "how to really make a song build; how to make it get steadily bigger and bigger."
  • Posner explained to CMU how he creates a track: "I really focus on chords and melodies. All my songs are written on the piano. If you sing any of my songs just on the piano they sound awesome. Once we've got the chords and the melodies fine-tuned we start producing around what is already a great song."
