  • Here, Mimi Webb throws caution to the wind as she urges her lover to "make a mistake," regardless of consequence.

    "Mistake" is a stark contrast to the themes of heartbreak and toxic relationships that dominated Webb's earlier work. Her previous songs often dealt with the pain and complications of unhealthy relationships. Tracks like "Good Without," "24/5" and "Red Flags" explore themes of emotional manipulation and dependence.

    "Mistake" flips the script entirely. It's a vibrant pop anthem that celebrates embracing life's experiences, even the messy ones.

    "I think where I am in my life right now, I'm very focused on myself and my career," Webb told Official Charts about the song. "I'm living in the moment! I really wanted to write about it, and making mistakes is a part of being human! You need to be able to move forward and take responsibility [for your actions]. Don't be afraid to make risky decisions! You'll grow from it."
  • For this song, Webb teamed up with American songwriter/producer Ryan Tedder, the hitmaker behind anthems for Adele, Taylor Swift, and his own band, OneRepublic. Webb, a longtime fan, mustered up the courage to meet Tedder at a 2023 summer festival.

    "I was so nervous to go up to him, but my Mum told me to," she laughed. "I shook his hand and said, 'I'm Mimi Webb and I'm a singer from the UK!' and then four months later, I got the call he wanted to work with me."
  • "Mistake" starts with a ballad-like vibe, then explodes into a high-energy electro-dance track with a surprising drum-and-bass twist. "This is very brand new to me - it's so fun to incorporate a new genre of music into what I'm doing," Webb admitted to Official Charts. "That kind of drum and bass, jungle vibe is where a lot of my fans are at, it's what they're listening to."
  • The single, released via Epic Records on April 12, 2024, coincides with Webb's support slot on Benson Boone's US tour.

    "Honestly, I was freaking out a bit because it is so different," she said. "But Ryan loved it, my manager loved it, the label loved it... when it came to [which of the new material] we were going to drop first, we thought... let's just go with it! I know it's a big song, a huge banger."
