    Lambert wrote the song with her Pistol Annies colleague, Ashley Monroe, and with Jesse Frasure, with whom she also co-penned the Palomino track, "If I Was A Cowboy."

    "I have been a big fan of Leon for a while because he is very authentic as an artist and I love his music," said Lambert. "I wrote this song with Ashley Monroe and Jesse Frasure specifically with Leon in mind. Since we are both from Texas, we threw in a few Texas references, of course - the Frio River being one."

    "When we finished this song, we sent it to Leon in hopes that he would want to collaborate and we were so glad that he said yes," she added.
  • Jon Randall produced "If You Were Mine." He recorded the 2021 Texas acoustic album The Marfa Tapes with Lambert and Jack Ingram. Randall adds a distinct bluesy flavor that keeps the melody buoyant and engaging.
  • Randall plays acoustic and electric guitar and sings the backing vocals with Ashley Monroe. The other musicians are:

    Al Perkins: pedal steel guitar
    Rob McNelley: electric guitar
    Jedd Hughes: acoustic guitar
    Craig Young: bass
    Fred Eltringham: drums
    Jimmy Wallace: keyboards


    Perkins, McNelley and Eltringham also played on Palomino. Eltringham was the drummer for Jakob Dylan's The Wallflowers between 2003 and 2011.
